What happened: The Seattle Seahawks acquired six-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts ahead of Week 8. Drafted sixth overall out of Notre Dame in 2018, the veteran lineman joins Seattle on an expiring contract while still grading among the league's top interior blockers.

Why it matters: Adding a proven left guard bolsters interior pass protection for Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold to reduce turnovers under pressure. Seattle holds the NFC's No. 8 seed and parted with the most pure draft capital for an NFL guard since at least 2011, per Spotrac.

By the numbers: Seattle stands at 4-3 following a 20-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 25, while Indianapolis sits at 2-5 after dismissing general manager Chris Ballard.

What to watch: Seattle will integrate Nelson into its starting offensive line ahead of Week 8 as NFC West rival San Francisco also weighs potential trade moves, per Jordan Schultz.
