What happened: Indianapolis is sending eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle in exchange for a 2027 third-round selection and a 2028 fifth-round pick, per Tom Pelissero. The deal helps the Colts recoup draft capital previously traded away to acquire cornerback Sauce Gardner, who is currently listed as questionable following a calf injury.

Why it matters: Seattle (4-3) upgrades its interior offensive line as the eighth seed in the NFC coming off a 20-3 win over Kansas City on Oct. 25. For Indianapolis (2-5), parting with its longtime foundational blocker signals a probable rebuild after a three-game skid dropped the team to 12th in the conference. With defensive tackle DeForest Buckner also being shopped, the Colts are prioritizing future draft assets over immediate contention.

By the numbers: Drafted sixth overall out of Notre Dame in 2018, Nelson departs Indianapolis with eight Pro Bowl selections and six All-Pro honors. Gardner, selected fourth overall in 2022, posted 36 tackles across 11 games split between the Jets and Colts during the 2025 season. Indianapolis enters Week 8 following a 16-10 road loss to Minnesota on Oct. 25.

What to watch: Seattle will work Nelson into its starting unit ahead of Week 8, while Indianapolis continues fielding deadline inquiries on veteran starters.
