What happened: Silseth gives Texas a right-handed bullpen arm, while O’Hoppe adds catching depth before the Aug. 3 deadline. Kurt Suzuki discussed the departures as Los Angeles’ deadline sell-off began.

Why it matters: Texas was 54-52 and in the AL postseason race on July 28, while Los Angeles sat 12 games back in the AL West. Moving two major leaguers to a division rival underscores the clubs’ different deadline positions.

What to watch: Both clubs have until Aug. 3 to make additional deadline moves.
