What happened: RB Salzburg has reached a total agreement to sign Swiss defender Dominik Schmid from FC Basel for a fee of €3m, including add-ons. The 28-year-old vice-captain is currently traveling to finalize his medical and sign his contract with the Austrian side.

Why it matters: Following a rare second-place finish, Salzburg is aggressively restructuring after losing key assets like Schuster to the Premier League. Schmid’s leadership and tactical discipline are expected to stabilize the left flank for the upcoming campaign.

What to watch: Schmid is expected to be officially announced within the next 24 hours once the medical tests and paperwork are finalized.
