What happened: Garrett Crochet threw live batting practice at Fenway Park and touched 96 mph with his fastball. The outing was framed as a final rehab step before a possible return to the mound.

Why it matters: October bullpen depth shapes matchups, and Boston has short-relief innings to Adding Crochet as a reliever would shift late-inning assignments without requiring a starter's workload.

What to watch: Watch for Boston's next roster call on whether Crochet gets the postseason bullpen nod.
