What happened: Boston Red Sox 25-year-old Ceddanne Rafaela now ranks sixth among all major league position players in Wins Above Replacement this season. The milestone places him among the sport's most productive overall contributors.

Why it matters: Rafaela has paired his elite outfield process with a surging bat to anchor the Boston lineup. He is delivering a 139 wRC+ in the second half of the 2026 season, a substantial leap from his 109 mark before the break. His two-way production provides critical stability for a Red Sox club in the middle of the American League playoff race.

By the numbers: Rafaela's 139 wRC+ since the All-Star break represents a 30-point jump from his first-half production. The improvement contrasts sharply with his 2025 campaign, when his second-half wRC+ dropped to 59.

What to watch: Rafaela looks to maintain his offensive surge as Boston navigates the final weeks of the regular season.
