What happened: Sporting director Richard Hughes is accelerating contract negotiations for the same Rio Ngumoha who recently swept the Premier League Home Grown Debutant and Scholar of the Year awards. The 17-year-old winger was reportedly close to a move to Bayern Munich, prompting immediate action from club officials to secure his future.

Why it matters: Securing Ngumoha is a priority as the club transitions to the Andoni Iraola era. While no official agreement existed between the clubs, the threat of losing a top-tier prospect to a European rival forced a shift in the renewal timeline to ensure stability.

What to watch: The club will look to finalize terms before the player's 18th birthday to end any further speculation.
