What happened: Sean Strickland defeated Khamzat Chimaev by split decision in the UFC 328 main event, with judges scoring it 48-47, 47-48 and 48-47. The result follows earlier Wire coverage of Sean Strickland in the same fight and points to a narrow five-round verdict in Newark.

Why it matters: It matters because the middleweight title picture appears to change hands on a razor-close decision, immediately reshaping the division. It also lands as a major betting upset after UFC's event page listed Chimaev as a heavy favorite and Strickland as a sizable underdog before the fight.

What to watch: Watch for UFC's official post-fight reaction and whether the promotion leans toward an immediate rematch after a split verdict. The next middleweight booking will clarify how quickly Chimaev gets a path back to the belt.
