What happened: San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday that he has "no expectation" regarding Brandon Aiyuk, adding that he has mentally moved on. Aiyuk reportedly plans to return to the team on Friday after filing paperwork for reinstatement from the Reserve/Left Squad list.

Why it matters: Shanahan's remarks highlight lingering organizational strain following Aiyuk's prolonged absence from team activities. With the NFL trade deadline set for Nov. 10, the 6-1 49ers must decide whether to reintegrate the former first-round pick or pursue a deal.

What to watch: Aiyuk is scheduled to report to team headquarters on Friday as San Francisco determines his roster status.
