What happened: Heat forward Simone Fontecchio did not travel with the roster to Atlanta and will miss Wednesday night's game. He had earlier carried a doubtful designation on the official injury log due to the illness.

Why it matters: The absence trims Miami's wing rotation early in the 2026-27 regular season. Fontecchio re-signed with the Heat on a one-year contract on July 2 to provide frontcourt depth.

What to watch: Team staff will reassess Fontecchio's availability once the club returns from Atlanta.
