What happened: Arne Slot publicly responded after Mohamed Salah questioned whether Liverpool would keep its standards once he leaves, saying those standards matter not only in the gym but also on the pitch. The exchange keeps a season-long Liverpool storyline in public view as Salah prepares to depart at the end of the 2025-26 campaign. Salah recently said he wants the club to keep its habits and daily example after he leaves, and Slot pushed back on the idea that those standards are slipping.

Why it matters: This matters because Liverpool are still trying to close out a damaged season and secure their finish while debate over leadership and culture spills into the open. It also adds another chapter to the same Mohamed Salah story Wire Report tracked when his Liverpool exit became official, raising attention on how the dressing room and coaching staff handle the final weeks.

What to watch: Watch whether Slot and Salah cool the rhetoric before Liverpool's run-in, and whether Salah returns to the squad before the season closes. The next Liverpool team selection and any fresh comments from either side will show whether this remains a media flare-up or a deeper end-of-season fracture.
