What happened: Daniel Edelman converted the deciding kick in a penalty shootout on Wednesday to clinch the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship for St. Louis City. The October 21 final went to spot kicks before Edelman buried the Cup-winning attempt.

Why it matters: The victory delivers a milestone title for the same St. Louis City squad that reached the Open Cup final following a midseason reset. Capturing the tournament completes an autumn cup run that included a September semifinal road trip before Wednesday's championship match.

What to watch: St. Louis City will celebrate its inaugural trophy as the 2026 MLS postseason calendar progresses.
