The Steelers have canceled a fan event in Paris “as a precautionary measure” because of the local civil unrest. The NFL Via @ArmandoSalguero on X

What happened: Pittsburgh called off its scheduled Steelers House gathering in the French capital as a precautionary step, per Armando Salguero. League officials confirmed their own two-day fan festival in Paris will proceed as planned on Friday and Saturday.

Why it matters: The team's decision follows moves earlier this week when the NFL heightened security for Sunday's Paris game between the Steelers and New Orleans Saints. While the franchise opted to limit its public footprint in the city, commissioner Roger Goodell has maintained that Sunday's matchup will go ahead.

What to watch: Pittsburgh is scheduled to take a Thursday night redeye flight to France and head straight from the airport to the practice field. Kickoff against New Orleans remains set for Sunday in Paris.
