What happened: Breanna Stewart was named 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup MVP after shooting 7-of-10 in the final. The championship gave her a fourth Women's World Cup gold medal.

Why it matters: Stewart became the first player to win Women's World Cup MVP more than once, adding 2026 to her 2018 honor. USA Basketball's fifth straight title keeps the program's international standard intact through another cycle.

By the numbers: Stewart: 22 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 7-of-10 FGM. World Cup MVPs: 2018, 2026. World Cup gold medals: 4. USA Basketball title streak: 5.

What to watch: The next marker is whether Stewart remains the central veteran piece as USA Basketball turns toward its next major international roster cycle.
