What happened: Jayson Tatum has tallied 42 30-point games this season, the most by any Boston Celtics player over the last 20 seasons, according to StatMuse. Jaylen Brown ranks second with 32, ahead of Isaiah Thomas' 31 from 2016-17. The milestone comes late in the regular season as Tatum returns from a recent injury.

Why it matters: This scoring dominance from Tatum and Brown bolsters Boston's status as Eastern Conference contenders, second in the East at around 46-23. Historically elite scoring output from Celtics stars signals potential for deep playoff run.
