What happened: The Detroit Tigers completed a sweep of the New York Yankees in the Bronx, their first there since 2008, per Bob Nightengale. The series played out as trade speculation continued to build around Tigers ace Tarik Skubal.

Why it matters: The result is a marquee statement for a 36-49 club sitting among the majors' worst records, and it sharpens the questions around Tarik Skubal's trade rumors with the deadline nearing. A dominant showing in New York complicates any read on whether Detroit sells or holds its centerpiece arm.

What to watch: Watch whether the strong series shifts Detroit's front-office posture on Skubal as the trade deadline approaches.
