What happened: Torrens came through with an impactful sequence for the New York Mets on Tuesday. The contribution injected immediate momentum into their scheduled contest against Kansas City.

Why it matters: New York is navigating a challenging stretch amid a three-game skid. Generating a positive catalyst remains crucial for a roster attempting to find consistency this summer.

By the numbers: The Mets brought a 36-53 record into Tuesday, averaging 4.0 runs per game while surrendering 4.7. The visiting Royals sat at 35-54, carrying a four-game losing streak and allowing 5.1 runs per outing.
