What happened: The Portland Trail Blazers have waived Jeremy Sochan, per Marc Stein. The move ends his brief tenure with the franchise before the regular season tips off.

Why it matters: Sochan joined the Trail Blazers on an offseason deal to compete for frontcourt minutes. Releasing him trims Portland's roster as the team finalizes its rotation out of the preseason.

What to watch: Sochan now enters waivers, where another team can claim his contract or let him clear into free agency. The Trail Blazers will proceed with their final roster cuts before opening night.
