What happened: The Utah Jazz waived center Jonas Aidoo and guard Tamar Bates on Saturday during final preseason roster cuts. Aidoo departs less than three weeks after signing with Utah alongside guard Jaelen House on Sept. 26. Bates had been with the organization since signing on July 3 and starting in Summer League action.

Why it matters: The moves trim Utah's training camp roster as franchises across the league pare down to standard regular-season limits before Monday's deadline. Waiving both players early in the weekend clears spots while preserving the option to retain their G League rights if they go unclaimed.

What to watch: Aidoo and Bates will enter the 48-hour NBA waiver window while Utah finalizes its 2026-27 opening-night roster by Monday.
