What happened: Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey told ESPN's Ernie Johnson that his team's room to grow and improve remains "a big gap" early in the 2026-27 regular season. The measured assessment arrives right after Maxey captured Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for his opening-week performance.

Why it matters: Maxey's focus on internal development reflects elevated expectations in Philadelphia following his selection to the All-NBA Third Team in June. Tightening execution across four quarters remains the immediate priority as the Sixers look to rebound from their first defeat of the campaign.

What to watch: The 76ers take the floor Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
