What happened: Memphis Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome claimed the Western Conference honor and Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey earned the Eastern Conference award for Week 1 of the 2026-27 season covering Oct. 20-25. Jerome paced unbeaten Memphis while averaging an NBA-best 34.7 points per game.

Why it matters: The opening-week awards recognize the primary backcourt scorers driving early results in both conferences. Memphis capped its perfect week with a 123-112 road victory on Sunday, while Maxey carried Philadelphia's offense even as the 76ers dropped their Sunday finale 106-93.

By the numbers: Maxey posted a game-high 29 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists in Sunday's 106-93 loss to the Detroit Pistons. Jerome averages 34.7 points per game for the 3-0 Grizzlies, and the 76ers hold a 3-1 record.

What to watch: Both guards enter Week 2 of the 2026-27 regular season looking to extend their early scoring pace.
