What happened: Jalon Daniels will become the first rookie quarterback to start a game this season. The undrafted rookie earns the starting role before any of the 10 quarterbacks selected in the 2026 NFL Draft have taken the field.

Why it matters: The opportunity arises after Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated thumb that is expected to sideline him for three to six weeks. Daniels takes over the offense ahead of highly touted rookies league-wide, bringing an elite arm to the starting lineup.

What to watch: Daniels steps into the starting role as the offense navigates Mayfield's multi-week recovery period.
