What happened: Minnesota stayed unbeaten through five games of the 2026 regular season under defensive coordinator Brian Flores. Silver detailed in The Athletic a player-empowerment model with veterans driving checks and adjustments.

Why it matters: A 5-0 October start positions Minnesota at the front of the NFC race. Sustaining a scoring-defense lead on a veteran-led unit gives the Vikings a stable identity into the middle of the schedule.

What to watch: Minnesota next tries to extend the unbeaten start in Week 7.
