What happened: Minnesota moved running back Jordan Mason to injured reserve with a thumb injury and signed running back DeeJay Dallas to its 53-man roster. Coach Kevin O'Connell later said Mason's injury was a small fracture that has been fixed.

Why it matters: The transaction gives the Vikings an immediate backfield replacement on the active roster while Mason is sidelined. Jordan Mason reached the end zone for Minnesota on Sept. 13, so his move to IR quickly changes the club's running back rotation.

What to watch: Minnesota's next practice report and game-day rotation will show how much work Dallas handles while Mason is on injured reserve.
