Warriors' G League affiliate acquires Tyler Burton's rights

Two 2027 G League draft picks went out in the deal.

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Sep 61 min read

What happened: The three-team trade cost a first-round pick originally from Wisconsin and a second-round selection, both in 2027. The transaction transfers Burton's returning-player rights for the upcoming G League season.

Why it matters: The deal gives Golden State's affiliate control of a forward who earned an NBA 10-day contract after going undrafted in 2024. It adds another experienced option to the organization's development pipeline for 2026-27.

By the numbers: Burton averaged 20.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals across 29 G League starts in 2025-26, shooting 46.6% from the field and 39.3% from three. He also averaged 10.8 points in 12 NBA games.

What to watch: Watch for Burton's next contract and whether he joins Golden State's affiliate for the 2026-27 season.
