What happened: Victor Wembanyama captured his third consecutive NBA blocks title alongside his reign as Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He joins Dikembe Mutombo and Marcus Camby as the only players to lead the league in blocks in three straight seasons since the statistic became official in 1973-74.

Why it matters: The milestone places the San Antonio Spurs anchor who swept the league's blocks leaderboard in rare historical company before his fourth professional campaign begins. San Antonio enters the 2026-27 regular season following a 126-97 preseason victory over the Sacramento Kings.

What to watch: Wembanyama and the Spurs open their 2026-27 regular-season schedule Tuesday against Oklahoma City.
