What happened: Minnesota announced Hynes' new contract Tuesday, keeping its head coach in place for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.

Why it matters: The move settles one of the organization's biggest off-ice calls before preseason work begins. With the coaching post locked down now, the Wild can head into camp without a contract decision hanging over the bench.

What to watch: The next marker is training camp, where any staff adjustments tied to the extension should become clearer. Minnesota's preseason setup will show how much change Hynes wants entering the new season.
