What happened: NHL forwards Will Smith and Macklin Celebrini teamed up off the ice to recreate the famous basketball alley-oop celebration made iconic by Dwyane Wade and LeBron James.

Why it matters: The crossover tribute highlights the growing off-ice chemistry between the two young forwards early in the 2026-27 NHL regular season, coming a day after Celebrini netted a shootout winner following a game-time decision.

What to watch: Both forwards continue their early-season regular-season slate this weekend.
