What happened: Kelsey Plum, the WNBA guard who stars for the Los Angeles Sparks, turned up at the Dodgers' home game and put her throwing arm on display. The MLB account billed her appearance as a "Plum Dawg on the mound," nodding to the velocity she flashed at Dodger Stadium.

Why it matters: The cameo is the latest crossover moment pairing a basketball star with a marquee MLB stage, a reliable boost for women's basketball visibility during the WNBA season. It also keeps Plum in the spotlight only weeks after she signed a brand deal with adidas Basketball, a stretch that has kept her profile climbing off the court.

What to watch: Watch whether the appearance becomes a recurring crossover for Plum as the WNBA season rolls on, while the Dodgers continue their homestand against the Orioles.
