What happened: A trade framework proposed by Yahoo Sports would send two minor league players to the Athletics in exchange for catcher Shea Langeliers. The proposal envisions the New York Yankees acquiring Langeliers to secure experienced right-handed power behind the plate.

Why it matters: New York enters the winter prioritizing offensive upgrades and lineup depth ahead of the 2027 campaign. Langeliers offers stability and power at a premium position for an Athletics club managing long-term roster construction.

What to watch: Both front offices will establish their winter target lists as trade market discussions unfold across Major League Baseball.
