What happened: The New York Yankees and New York Mets face extensive winter reorganizations to reset their rosters for the 2027 season. Both franchises fell short of expectations during the 2026 campaign and now evaluate major adjustments across their lineups and pitching staffs.

Why it matters: Both franchises face pivotal roster decisions heading into 2027 after high payrolls yielded disappointing finishes in 2026. Early organizational adjustments have already begun across town as both front offices prepare for the upcoming trade and free-agent markets.

What to watch: Winter meetings and free agency discussions will dictate how aggressively each front office reshapes its core for 2027.
