What happened: Tanner Swanson is leaving the New York Yankees coaching staff to join the Seattle Mariners as their bench coach, per Joel Sherman. The move brings the veteran coach to Seattle's staff ahead of the 2027 season.

Why it matters: The hiring fills a key position on the Mariners' major league staff heading into the upcoming campaign. For the Yankees, Swanson's departure opens a vacancy on the coaching staff amid early offseason adjustments.

What to watch: The Mariners will complete the rest of their major league coaching staff, while the Yankees move to fill the vacant role.
