What happened: Inspired by William Contreras, MLB Network analyst Greg Amsinger named Berra's 1956 Game 7 the greatest single-game World Series performance by a catcher. Carlton Fisk's 1975 Game 6 and Johnny Bench's 1976 Game 4 took the second and third spots. Roy Campanella in 1955 Game 3 and Gary Carter in 1986 Game 4 rounded out the five.

Why it matters: Contreras drew the comparison after anchoring both sides of the ball in Milwaukee's series-opening victory, giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead as both clubs pursue a first franchise title. He also entered the series ranked third on Amsinger's World Series MVP board behind Jackson Chourio and Junior Caminero.

By the numbers: Contreras recorded 2 hits, 1 RBI and 2 runners caught stealing in Game 1, while Milwaukee closer Trevor Megill tied for the postseason lead with 5 saves.

What to watch: Right-hander Drew Rasmussen starts Game 2 for Tampa Bay against his former team as the Rays look to even the series.
