What happened: The Major League Baseball Players Association named Yordan Alvarez the American League winner for both Most Outstanding Player and Comeback Player of the Year on Wednesday.

Why it matters: The peer-voted accolades follow a dominant campaign in which the left-handed slugger led the majors in five offensive categories by late July and headlined the midseason MVP conversation.

What to watch: The offseason awards calendar continues after the 2026 postseason concludes, with additional American League hardware still to be announced.
