Make it TEN strikeouts for Zack Wheeler! https://t.co/a8eGKVkpyl

What happened: Zack Wheeler worked to 10 strikeouts. The outing came a day after he reached 2,000 career strikeouts.

Why it matters: Double-digit strikeout totals underline swing-and-miss form in late September. Rotation order down the stretch turns on starters carrying that form into October.

By the numbers: 10 strikeouts in outing; 2,000 career strikeouts; 96th pitcher in MLB history at mark; 10th active pitcher at mark.

What to watch: Wait for final line and decision to confirm where this start lands.
