What happened: The veteran defensive lineman received a one-year contract. Kareem joined a practice squad on Sept. 3, two days before the move.

Why it matters: The corresponding transactions preserve a defensive-line roster spot while Okuayinonu shifts to injured reserve. Kareem has a short runway to settle into San Francisco's rotation before the 2026 season.

What to watch: Kareem's place in the rotation and any update on Okuayinonu's status are next.
