What happened: Aday Mara has officially joined the Oklahoma City Thunder after going No. 12 in the 2026 NBA Draft. The 7-foot-3 center arrives in Oklahoma City out of Michigan, adding rim protection and size to an already deep Thunder roster heading into the 2026-27 season.

Why it matters: The pick gives Oklahoma City a towering interior presence to develop behind its young core, a long-term answer at center as the franchise builds for sustained contention. Mara is the highest-drafted Spaniard since Ricky Rubio in 2009, underscoring the international pipeline feeding the modern NBA.

What to watch: Watch how Oklahoma City integrates Mara into its frontcourt rotation through Summer League and training camp ahead of the 2026-27 season.
