What happened: Álvaro Arbeloa addressed his uncertain future following Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to Barcelona, which officially handed the La Liga title to their rivals. The interim manager stated that discussions with the club would take place once the current campaign concludes later this month.

Why it matters: Arbeloa has struggled to maintain order in a fractured dressing room following his mid-season appointment to replace Xabi Alonso. His non-committal stance coincides with heavy reports that Florentino Pérez has initiated "Operation Mourinho" to bring the Benfica manager back to the Bernabéu for a second stint.

What to watch: Watch for a potential announcement regarding Arbeloa's return to the youth academy once a new head coach is appointed. José Mourinho remains the primary candidate to take over before the 2026 World Cup begins.
