What happened: Arsenal and Atlético Madrid have finalized an agreement for the transfer of 26-year-old forward Julián Álvarez to North London. The deal is structured as a €50 million cash payment combined with the transfer of Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres to the Spanish side.

Why it matters: The move significantly bolsters Arsenal's attacking depth with a World Cup winner while providing Atlético with a clinical replacement in Gyökeres. This transaction follows a shock agreement reported earlier this week as both clubs look to recalibrate their squads for the 2026-27 season.

What to watch: Both players are expected to undergo medical examinations and finalize personal terms shortly. Official confirmation of the swap is anticipated by the end of the week.
