What happened: Aston Villa have reportedly begun negotiations with Toulouse after reaching a verbal agreement with Guillaume Restes. Toulouse want at least €20 million, with Napoli also pursuing the 21-year-old goalkeeper.

Why it matters: Villa's move depends on Emiliano Martínez's future, making Restes a potential successor rather than an immediate addition. Competition could complicate negotiations and increase pressure to settle the goalkeeping position.

What to watch: Martínez's future and the arrival of a formal offer will determine whether talks advance.
