What happened: Fabrizio Romano reported that Atalanta are set to appoint Cristiano Giuntoli as their new sporting director. Romano said the former Napoli and Juventus director would take the job from next season, with Matteo Moretto also credited on the report. The move has been reported, but the signal does not include an official club announcement.

Why it matters: The hire would give Atalanta a new executive lead on recruitment and squad planning ahead of the 2026-27 season. It also links the Bergamo club with a director who has already worked at two major Serie A rivals, Napoli and Juventus, making it a notable front-office shift in Italy.

What to watch: Watch for confirmation from Atalanta or Giuntoli and for details on when the appointment becomes official. The next key development is whether the club outlines how the role fits into its summer transfer and squad-building plans.
