What happened: The Patriots placed Bryce Baringer on injured reserve, alongside linebacker Khalil Jacobs. Both players remain eligible to return this season.

Why it matters: New England has made multiple roster moves in the last two days ahead of the opener. Losing a punter creates a weekly field-position question that cannot be solved by adding depth at another position.
