Both forwards entered the offseason as restricted free agents.

Wire Report IntelligenceUpdated Jul 291 min read

What happened: Pastujov recorded 21 goals and 57 points in 71 games last season. Farrell totaled nine goals and 28 points across 47 games.

Why it matters: Pastujov has yet to make his NHL debut, while Farrell's lone NHL stint produced one goal in six games during 2022-23. The one-for-one swap reshapes both clubs' forward depth without involving draft capital.

By the numbers: Pastujov averaged 0.80 points per game last season, compared with Farrell's 0.60. Farrell has 125 points in 186 career AHL games.

What to watch: Training camp will clarify where both forwards fit on their new clubs' 2026-27 depth charts.
