What happened: Gonzalez stayed on the field for every defensive play Thursday despite an illness he initially mistook for allergies, per Mike Reiss. Cornerback Marcus Jones played 67 snaps in an expanded role with starter Carlton Davis III ruled out due to a neck injury, while defensive tackle Cory Durden, who intentionally jumped offside late to save clock, reached his highest snap count of the season.

Why it matters: With Davis sidelined, the secondary relied on Gonzalez and Jones to handle nearly every snap against a Chicago Bears squad that improved to 5-2 with its second straight win. The defense absorbed a heavy workload in the 30-24 defeat, dropping the team to 4-3 and ninth in the conference standings.

What to watch: Davis' recovery from his neck injury and Gonzalez's return to full health will determine the cornerback rotation heading into next week.
