What happened: Christian Yelich secured the first World Series championship of his career after spending nine of his 14 major league seasons in Milwaukee. The title rounds out a resume that already features All-Star and Silver Slugger selections.

Why it matters: A championship was the lone major honor missing from Yelich's career collection after he previously captured MVP, batting champion, and Gold Glove accolades. Reaching the summit in his ninth Milwaukee campaign caps a nearly decade-long tenure as a franchise cornerstone.

What to watch: Attention now turns to Milwaukee's championship celebration and offseason preparations to defend the title.
