What happened: Colten Ellis turned aside every shot faced to record a regulation shutout during Wednesday's 2026-27 NHL regular-season action. Late empty-net insurance closed out the scoring to preserve the clean sheet.

Why it matters: Ellis entered the campaign as part of a three-goalie depth chart while front-office leadership deflected external trade speculation at the position. The scoreless outing bolsters internal goaltending stability for a roster operating with $1.8 million in salary cap space and all of its first-round draft picks intact.

What to watch: Ellis will contend for additional starts in the crease as the 2026-27 regular-season schedule continues.
