What happened: Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota exited Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in London due to an injury. Rookie Athan Kaliakmanis took over the offense after Mariota departed for the locker room.

Why it matters: Mariota was starting in place of rookie Jayden Daniels, who recently sustained a dislocated elbow. Washington must now rely on its third option under center as the 2-4 Commanders navigate the regular season.

By the numbers: Washington held a 6-0 lead while the game was in progress. Mariota recorded 1,695 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and seven interceptions across 11 appearances last season.

What to watch: The team will evaluate his status while Kaliakmanis handles the remaining snaps.
