What happened: Connor Murphy outlined the Edmonton Oilers' team identity, emphasizing that sustained success begins with skating, work ethic, and physical play. He explained that establishing that heavy foundation allows the roster's high-end skill and scoring ability to decide tight contests.

Why it matters: Edmonton relies on balancing structured two-way pressure with elite offensive talent across the regular season. Maintaining a demanding physical baseline ensures the group can dictate tempo when defensive space shrinks against top opponents.

What to watch: The Oilers look to reinforce that identity as regular-season competition continues.
