What happened: Ousmane Dembélé has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Season for 2025-26, per Fabrizio Romano and confirmed by Ligue 1's official channels. The PSG forward beat out a field that included teammate Bradley Barcola and Marseille's attacking core for the league's marquee individual award. The honor caps a campaign in which Dembélé also helped drive PSG to the UEFA Champions League final.

Why it matters: The award validates Dembélé's transformation under Luis Enrique from a high-variance winger into PSG's most consistent attacking outlet in the post-Mbappé era. It strengthens his case in the broader European Player of the Year conversation alongside the Ballon d'Or shortlist, and reinforces PSG's claim that their summer rebuild around homegrown and French talent has worked. For Ligue 1, crowning Dembélé over rival-club nominees underscores PSG's continued grip on the domestic narrative.

What to watch: Watch for the official Ligue 1 awards gala recap and for Dembélé's status heading into the Champions League final, where he projects as PSG's primary attacking threat. The Ballon d'Or shortlist release later this year is the next major individual benchmark.
