What happened: Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith was upgraded to a limited participant Thursday. Running back Saquon Barkley remained sidelined. Optimism persists that Smith suits up Sunday.

Why it matters: Philadelphia enters Week 6 without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for Sunday against the Panthers. Backfield depth is thin behind Barkley after Philadelphia added Ian Wheeler to the practice squad this week.

What to watch: Friday's final practice report and game designations will clarify both statuses ahead of Sunday.
